Sketch up has been my favourite this semester. In my opinion, It's fairly simple to use once you understand all the tools. On sketch up there are different tools to help you build your 3D object which for me was a house, and a pool. First select a template, I prefer the ft and inches but there are a few to choose from. Once you have selected a template start building your object. Next, use the tools provided to build your object.
These are the tools. I will explain 4 of them: the rectangle tool, the push/pull tool, the paint tool and the follow me tool. The rectangle tool is very simple to use. First, click the rectangle tool, then drag on a corner to create a rectangle. TRICK: If you need a certain length and height, while still holding onto the rectangle type in your desired measurements. For example, in feet and inches maybe you want a rectangle 30',45'. Just type in the number and hit enter and voila, your rectangle will be that measurement.
the push and pool tool can make the rectangle into a 3D box. Click on the rectangle (or anything you want to push or pull) and move it up or down. Like the rectangle tool, you can type in any measurement you like. TIP: make sure whatever you are wanting to use this tool on is selected. It is selected when blue dots cover that section.
The follow me tool was the hardest tool for me. First, offset the base then click the follow me tool and follow it around the edges. TIP: if you use the line tool and create a triangle, select the triangle and double click it with the follow me tool it will follow it all around the base.
This tool is the simplest. Simply choose a colour and click on the surface. TIP: look in the different folders for different things like brick, grass, etc.

GJ - Day 5 - Opinion
I had no idea as to anything bold to randomly do in the game, so what I did was start the game fresh and try to add as much as I could without thinking about my choice.
20 minutes into the game this is what I have gotten. I have created a mine, base pad, canteen, a bio dome, a water extractor and water tank, a dorm, a solar panel and two wind turbines, two power collectors and i was in the process of building a process plant.
In this photo I actually haven't added anything more, just stuff on the inside. I am though facing problems with power as I have so many buildings now.
In this, I'm still in the process of building more on the inside. Half of my buildings keep running out of power still.
last photo of progress I made and I have added on a factory and a processing plant and a bar. I still did not figure out how to fix my power problem but I survived during the nights so I think it was only a minor problem. In my opinion this game is super fun. You have to figure out a strategy to build a good colony. This game is very realistic which makes your brain think. One thing I did not like about the game is that there could be a lot to do around the base and the workers would just stand around. For example, my vegetables needed fixing and my people were starting to starve and the worker would just be standing around not helping.
